Remote vs office-based: the great debate for employers
For most businesses, keeping employees happy is the top priority (we’d hope so anyway). And with an Atlas Cloud survey unveiling that 87% of UK workers state that they want the option to work from home at least some of the time, it’s clear we can’t go back to how things used to be.
It seems in order to keep productivity at its optimal level, employers have to make some big decisions regarding workplace flexibility. So what does the new normal look like?
At Tempo, we are passionate about people with potential and the right attitude, trusting them to do well whether it be at home or in the office. But let’s hear it straight from the horse’s mouth!
We asked some of our own, which do you prefer?
James, Business Development Executive who prefers working in the office.

“I have loved being back in the office! Being in a sales role, I really missed bouncing off the energy of the team and being able to go over to people and ask questions when I get stuck! As much as you can pimp out your working from home setup I don’t think you can recreate a wonderful office vibe!”
Delfina, Candidate Experience Intern who prefers working from home.

“Working from home has been interesting. Mainly because you lack the daily human interaction with colleagues that I so much love… but the frugal and time efficient side of me loves the fact I don’t have to spend money or time commuting. Instead I’ve managed to get a good and consistent routine in place (and some healthy habits!) with all this extra time I have in the mornings and evenings!”
Devi, Sales Development Representative who prefers hybrid working.

“I love the buzz of the office, but working from home has given me the freedom to indulge my hobbies! I can take singing lessons in my lunch break, nobody wants to hear that in the office! I can use the commute time to fit in a work out or spend the morning cooking a (vegan) full english. I love working, and to show up to work being the best I can be, these extra hours help me fill up my tank so I am raring to go! And when I am in, I feel like I get a lot more out of it knowing it’s a choice and not an expectation.”
Maddy, Senior Marketing Executive who prefers working in the office.

“Personally, I prefer to come into the office. After being locked inside for soooo long, I like seeing my colleagues face-to-face and having that sense of community. To be really honest, my house isn’t set-up for working from home… there’s nowhere near enough space to work without retreating to my bed and destroying my back!”
Consensus? Still undecided.
We are living in a time where employers can rethink and reshape their businesses. The office-based model has been the central function for over 100 years! Now there is opportunity to offer flexible workspaces, work remotely and work in smaller creative spaces. Exciting, isn’t it?
