Why Relative Insight replaced job boards with Tempo

Relative Insight are helping businesses to better understand their customers through the analysis of text data from online sources.

We recently chatted with Marcus Pemberton, VP of Customer Success at Relative Insight, about his experience of using Tempo to improve Relative Insight’s hiring process.

How would you describe Tempo in 3 words?

Efficient, simple and easy.

What was it about Tempo that appealed to you?

The UX. The fact that everything was built around speed and ease. So you weren’t necessarily needing to interact with candidates in quite a long form way.

You didn’t have to download and open a CV, all of the information was there, readily accessible. So you could quickly assess a candidate.

Then equally, because of all the integrations, it meant that we could arrange interviews really easily, suggest times, candidates could amend those times, and everything was linked to my calendar.

What’s your favourite Tempo feature?

We did actually find some really strong suggested candidates that hadn’t necessarily applied. That whole process has been really interesting because it meant that you didn’t have to interact with candidates that weren’t appropriate.

But, because the platform suggests people that might be a good fit for your role, you’re able to reach out to them and actually communicate the role with them.

Finally, probably the videos. First of all, I found the ability for me to record a video about who we are and what we do really made it very personal. A lot of candidates seem to be a lot better prepared than you could ever get from them reading about a company.

What recruitment challenges did you face before Tempo?

So we’ve ended up putting ads on job boards. We’ve used Reed, Indeed, Glassdoor and LinkedIn. We’re a cool startup in Central London so the ad attracted a lot of candidates. However, a lot of those candidates aren’t necessarily relevant, in terms of experience, for the roles we have.

Who would you recommend Tempo to?

Any hiring manager that doesn’t have the support of full-time recruiters could definitely find Tempo really valuable just to make that process of hiring top talent much quicker and easier.
